Can I fix my vacuum pump myself?

It's easy! Replacement kits contain a diaphragm and valves, and step by step instruction on how to repair your vacuum pump yourself, right in your lab, using everyday tools. Instructions are included in every spares kit. One kit services one head. Call Customer Service for a replacement instruction sheet.

I need to ship my pump back to KNF for repairs. Hwo do I do that?

Customers in other countries, please click HERE for an address of a KNF office or representative nearest you.
To get the process started immediately:

1) Download and print a copy of our RMA Request form. See tab above.

2) Fill out the form and fax to 609-890-8323. Be sure to include your phone number.

3) Call KNF Lab Customer Service 609/890-8600 during normal business hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EST) and explain that you faxed in the form and want to return a pump for repairs.

4) You will be faxed an RMA return instruction form with an RMA number which must be displayed on the outside of the shipping carton. Include Material Safety Data sheets and other details before returning the pump.

Pack the pump properly. Wads of newspaper or peanuts are unacceptable packing materials, as the pump is heavy and settles to the bottom of the carton where it will most likely suffer damage. Foam blocks, or the original packing materials, if available, are best. KNF is not responsible for incoming shipping damage.

Do I need to protect my lab vacuum pump from liquid condensate?

That depends on the model you have. KNF's latest LABOPORT® series N800FTP "Full PTFE " series pumps tolerate occasional liquid droplets. They feature KNF's new Kalrez® multi-port valve system, but are not designed to pump liquids continually.
As a general rule, all vacuum pumps, especially earlier KNF models and competitive brands that use the traditional "flapper" valves, should be protected from incoming condensate by using an upstream cold trap.
