How do I ship a pump to KNF for repairs?

Customers in other countries, please click HERE for an address of a KNF office or representative nearest you.
To get the process started immediately:

1) Download and print a copy of our RMA Request form. Tab above.

2) Fill out the form and fax to 609-890-8323, or save to your computer and email to rma@knf.com. Be sure to include your phone number.

3) Call KNF Customer Service 609/890-8600 during normal business hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EST) and explain that you faxed in the form and want to return a pump for repairs.

4) You will be faxed an RMA return instruction form with an RMA number which must be displayed on the outside of the shipping carton. Include Material Safety Data sheets and other details before returning the pump.

Pack the pump properly. Wads of newspaper or peanuts are unacceptable packing materials, as the pump is heavy and settles to the bottom of the carton where it will most likely suffer damage. Foam blocks, or the original packing materials, if available, are best. KNF is not responsible for incoming shipping damage.

I need a pump that is capable of starting under system pressure or vacuum. Is this possible?

Because of the large surface area of a diaphragm, and the fact that one side of that diaphragm is exposed to atmospheric pressure, the standard pump motor is designed to start with both ports at atmospheric pressure. If you specify otherwise, we can modify a pump to start under a pressure or vacuum load. It's best to discuss your application with one of our engineers.

Do I need to protect my KNF vacuum pump from liquid condensate?

The new multi-port valve system used in the KNF's N8X and N8XX series of pumps is highly tolerant of occasional liquid droplets. It is not, however, designed to pump liquids. KNF liquid pumps are designed to pump liquids.

Earlier model pumps using the traditional "flapper" valves should be protected from condensate by positioning the pump at the highest point in the system, so accumulated condensate drains away from the pump, or by providing a trap.

Not sure what type of valves your pump has? Call us, and ask to speak to one of our applications engineers.

I cannot find my PU, PU, PM, or PML pump listed on your website. Are these items still available?

KNF makes a variety of special, proprietary design pumps that are used by other manufacturers in their equipment, such as medical devices, stack gas samplers and exhaust gas analyzers. These models have been modified. They are not standard product. Complete replacement pumps are available only from the instrument manufacturer, but spare parts and repair services are available from KNF Customer Service.

Models that begin with N or UN are always available from KNF as a complete pump assembly or spare parts kits, and we also perform factory repairs. Contact Customer Service if you have any questions about these models. Request a spares kit price quote HERE.
